Manoukian, the president of “Ardzagang” television studio in New
York, was born in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. After
graduating from high school, he was accepted to The Performing
Arts and Theatrical Institute of Yerevan, where he undertook
studies to become a theater and movie actor. From 1980 till the
end of 1994, Ara Manoukian was one of the leading actors of The
Gabriel Soundoukian Academic Theater of Yerevan. Along with
performing in the theater, Ara Manoukian has starred in many
Armenian, Russian and foreign films, as well as in various
television shows. Some of his many outstanding roles have been
Romeo in Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”; Saro in “Anoush” film
opera; Harut in “Miro of The Gor” film, and many other roles. Ara Manoukian participated
in the French-Lebanese film "Festival of Death" in a lead role
of "Akram", The film was an official selection
of "Nant" film festival.
1994, Ara Manoukian moved to the United States, where he
performed in a number of plays on stages throughout the United
States. On April 3rd, 1996, together with Karine
Kocharian, he established “Ardzagang” television studio, where
he acts as a president.
the eastern United States, "Ardzagang” is the only television
studio which equally serves Armenia and the Armenian dispora.
